EAT HAPPENS

Another Saturday Night! This post is dedicate for you who still confuse about where suppose the place to hang out tonight, weather with friends, lover or future-lover (or maybe an ex? Hahaha). I prefer to this one, EAT HAPPENS food court, which located near Tebet Station. Sounds good for the location?

I found this place after several times searching on net for a good place to reunited with my college friends who became like me, wanderer in Capital, lol. So, considering our da kost/home is far from one to other (one in south, another one in Depok or even Tangerang), I think this is the best one. Near station and it’s closed enough from central town.

To be honest, the place is a bit small from my expectation. But, it sure a photoable one. They muraled their wall with a simple and catchy pictures and hand lettering. Oh, and this food court is divide by two portion area, non smoking (AC provided) and the smoking area one. So for you who don’t wanna eat with “smoke”, you can choose the non smoking area.

It really does give "cool kids" vibes

Then, how about the food? Let’s peek it!

There’s so much menu you can choose in EAT HAPPENS. From just a snack until a main course such rice bowl or ramen. For me and my other six friends, we decided to choose a 2 sharing menu. The one is:

Hungry John Sausage (H4) IDR 69.000, score: 8/10
It sure Hungry John Long Bread is the most authentic menu in EAT HAPPENS. They serves many toppings inside it like, beef patty, egg, or even sausage (like this one). The bread sure long, maybe around 60-75cm? And for me, this is the right choice for sharing meal (it can shared until 6-7 portion for us, and we satisfied enough for 1 slice, around 5-7cm we’ve got for one person.)
And the second one is:

Martabak Original CO(klat) – KE (ju) – KA (cang) – W(ij)E(n), IDR 55.000, score: 8/10
Chocolate, cheese and peanut is a common topping for martabak, am I wrong? Then, they mixed it with wijen (sesame seeds) it’s quitely out of my mind. The batter is soft and good. And for you who can’t eat sweet thing but craved it, you must try this one. And it’s a balance menu as well for savory Hungry John I think.

Then for my own choice meal and beverage, I choose:

Nasi Goreng Gyutan (Beef Tongue Fried Rice), IDR 32.000, score: 6/10
The tongue slices is too thin T^T. And the rice portion is a bit small then my friend’s fried rice (I will review it after this). The taste is so so too. I’m sorry, but there’s a lot menus better than this and I will recommended yo to choose another than this. For example:

Nasi Goreng Gila (Gila Fried Rice), IDR 32.000, score: 9/10
YES! THIS ONE! I highly recommended this one. Gila is Bahasa Indonesia for madness/crazy. But for food, it something super spicy food and usually there’s a lot dishes inside them (meatballs, sausages, or shredded chicken) and of course, egg! This is good, the egg is fluffy and the portion is much more than mine *sob*.

And for the beverage, there’s a lot of unique flavor actually. You can check it on zomato picture galleries, but then I curious that they serve butterbeer like in Harry Potter. I was so excited.. but what I’ve got?

Harry Potter Butter Soda, IDR 32.000, score: 4/10
Yes, I’ve so disappointed for this one beverage. It is not the butterbeer where they have a melted butter mixed with brown sugar, condensed milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove inside.. It’s just a rootbeer with one cut of cinnamon then serve with whipped cream T^T.  And it’s too expensive for they called “butterbeer” *sigh*. So, for you who want try an unique flavor to drink, I think you have to choose others than this. Believe me.

Original Cendol from Beyond Cendol & Duren Bar, IDR 18.000, score: 7/10
An usual cendol, not too sweet. It’s a perfect for you who don’t have a sweet tooth.

Other menu is:

Nasi Goreng Hitam/Cumi (Squid Ink Fried Rice), IDR 30.000, score: 6/10.
Just a fried rice with squid ink then a sunny side up on the top. That’s all. And the plate is black then we don't see the difference between rice and the plate *sigh*. But gladly, the portion is more than mine as well.

Blackpepper Beef Rice Bowl, IDR 30.000
Teriyaki Beef Rice Bowl, IDR 30.000
I can’t scoring them cause I don’t really taste it. But for the portion I want to give them 7/10, it’s much, and enough to decrease your starve.

additional:
if you're not done with your meal, you can take it out and I love their take out package, so cute!

Well, that’s all of my review for EAT HAPPENS. Overall, it’s a good place with a good location and many menus that you can choose it. Let me know what you’ve order if you have gone to this place. And for you who curious for the place (and of course for the meal too), come and try it! Alright then, have a nice weekend wherever and whoever with! Dasvidaniya!

NASI GORENG KEBON SIRIH - the Legend “Nasi Goreng Kambing” born in here!

Hello, it’s been a long time since I don’t strolling to kulineran in Jakarta and tonight, thanks to my cousin that she loves to exploring new *welp, for Jakartans is not a new place tho* place for lunch or even hang out on night like we’ve done tonight. We decided to try nasi goreng kambing (lamb fried rice) on Kebon Sirih area, where the one of legendary nasi goreng kambing at Jakarta was born..

Nasi Goreng Kebon Sirih already exist from 1958 and still in the same place where they opened first. The behind idea of this mighty fried rice is Alm. Haji Nein and the recipe still running until now has already on 3rd generations hand.

They've cooked so much fried rice for hundred portions, so the customers don't have to waiting so long for their order.
Ready to serve for a starve stomaches.
Nasi goreng (aka fried rice) is a common dish in Indonesia. And for the lamb fried rice case, Indonesian version is almost same with Indian style Biryani rice. We use the spices like cardamom, turmeric, lemongrass, pepper and other spices for up the strong taste of the lamb and don’t forget for “Minyak Samin” as well (I googled it and in English it’s called “Ghee” and this butter so common for Indian/Pakistan dish). That’s why lamb fried rice more oily and the taste more strong than the other of fried rice (and much much increase your colesterol too, mwahahaha).

1 portion Lamb Fried Rice, IDR 32,000

If you don’t really like lamb (and you’ve been forced by your friend or even gebetan to accompany them), don’t worry, you can choose chicken here. They served the fried rice including acar timun and kubis (cucumber and cabbage pickels) with savory-sour-hot taste, and it’s good! Not only fried rice, they’re also served satay (lamb or chicken) and lamb soup (which is I want to try this but it’s too late for realized that this dish is on the menu list, haaah). If you want some carbo (rice, of course) but not fried, they have a unique menu called Nasi Ala Kambing Guling. They serve a white-warm-rice with chopped roasted lamb meat. You can added fried egg (sunny side up or even omelette) in your order as well if you want.

Timun and kubis acar. It's good for balancing our mouth and stomach after ate the oily fried rice~
Lamb Satay. So tempting, right? Oh yes, baby. For 1 whole portion (10 skewers) IDR 60.000
If you craved so much this fried rice now (if you read on night of course), it’s alright, they open the stall until morning in 2:00 AM and for the weekend they can open it until 3:00 AM. For your info, the stall open at 5 PM and they’ll be more crowded around 7:30 PM and so on (maybe 10 or 11 PM) as for dinner time in Indonesia, hahaha. Aaaanndd, if you don't want to leave your comfort nest, it is alrighty too. You can ordered their menu with Go-Food application (Jakarta only, yah!).

I came at 6:30 PM and the crowd still normal
and more more crowded after 7:00 PM

Well, I’m hungry again after reviewed them, hahaha. Good night then, and have a nice Mon(ey)day! #timgajiantanggal25 #timgajiantanggal30, semangat!
